Since DAIWA’s 60th memorial year – the “LT” light and tough concept is out and most of the new coming reel follows this.
Now what is “LT” concept? And what are the alphabets mean?
“LT” – Light and Tough Concept for Spinning Reel
At their 60th year, DAIWA made new LT concept, that means Light and Tough, as I have already explained to other articles. This is DAIWA’s new concept to make new reels and new features, and a theme to be achieved.
As you can see the new reels such as EXIST ’18, Freams LT ’18, Certate ’19, Lexa ’19… Those new reels have lots of advanced features to achieve this concept Light and Tough. Existing features are upgraded too, and EXIST’18 was the one to show DAIWA’s answer of this concept.
Unique Monocoque Body, Zaion materials, advanced Tough Digigear, Magsealed… Light and Tough, is very simple, but very important concept for spinning reels and DAIWA reached one of their answers.
How to Read LT Model Alphabets
Previous DAIWA’s numbering and alphabets, they were often complained by users, it’s too complicated, despite SHIMANO’s is very easy to understand.
So now DAIWA has renewed all those numberings and alphabets much easier so you can choose the right size easy.
Here is the example below:
E.g.)
EXIST FC LT2500S – CXH – DH
FC = Fines Custom
QD = Quick Drag etc.
LT1000 = Φ40mm
LT2000 = Φ42mm
LT2500 = Φ45mm
LT3000 = Φ48mm
LT4000 = Φ51mm
LT5000 = Φ54mm
LT6000 = Φ57mm
D = Deep
S = Shallow
SS = Extra Shallow
C = Compact body
(smaller body than size number)
P = 4.9 or under
NA = 5.0 – 5.4
H = 5.5 – 5.9
XH = 6.0 or higher
DH = Double Handle
LT size target species table is below:
Size | Target Spacies |
---|---|
LT1000 | Yellow Tail, Rock Fish, Trout |
LT2000 | Yellow Tail, Rock Fish, Trout |
LT2500-C | Bass, Eging, Trout |
LT2500 | Bass, Eging, Trout, Tenya Snapper, Seabass |
LT3000-C | Bass, Eging, Trout, Tenya Snapper, Seabass |
LT3000 | Deep Sea Eging, Seabass, Flatfish, Big Trout |
LT4000-C | Seabass, Flatfish, Big Trout, Salmon, Light Jigging, Light Shore Jigging |
LT5000-C | Seabass, Flatfish, Big Trout, Light Jigging, Light Shore Jigging |
LT6000 | Jigging, Shore Jigging |
LT spool size and line capacity table is below:
Size | Spool Type | Line Capacity Mono (lb – m) | Line Capacity Braid (Gou – m) |
---|---|---|---|
LT1000 | LT1000D | 6 – 150 | #0.6 – 300 |
LT1000 | 3 – 150 | #0.4 – 200 | |
LT1000S | 2.5 – 100 | #0.3 – 200 | |
LT2000 | LT2000D | 8 – 150 | #0.8 – 300 |
LT2000 | 4 – 150 | #0.6 – 200 | |
LT2000S | 3 – 150 | #0.4 – 200 | |
LT2000SS | 2.5 – 100 | #0.3 – 200 | |
LT2500 | LT2500D | 12 – 150 | #1.2 – 300 |
LT2500 | 6 – 150 | #0.8 – 200 | |
LT2500S | 4 – 150 | #0.6 – 200 | |
LT3000 | LT3000D | 16 – 150 | #1.5 – 300 |
LT3000 | 8 – 150 | #1 – 200 | |
LT3000S | 6 – 150 | #0.8 – 200 | |
LT4000 | LT4000D | 20 – 150 | #2 – 300 |
LT4000 | 12 – 150 | #1.5 – 200 | |
LT4000S | 8 – 150 | #1 – 200 | |
LT5000 | LT5000D | 25 – 150 | #2.5 – 300 |
LT5000 | 20 – 150 | #2 – 300 | |
LT5000S | 12 – 150 | #1.5 – 200 | |
LT6000 | LT6000D | 30 – 150 | #3 – 300 |
LT6000 | 25 – 150 | #2.5 – 300 | |
LT6000S | 20 – 150 | #2 – 300 |
As you can see above, new LT spool size became very similar to SHIMANO’s. I assume this is because population of SHIMANO user are very high.
