Apart from that….. The memorial first news of 2017 is about high-end spinning model from SHIMANO. The current model, Twin Power SW has released at 2015 and many anglers use that great performance reel in the world.
Now, SHIMANO has announced they will produce the new Twin Power 2017 as “XD” – “Extreme Durability”.
Extended Tuned Spinning Reel for Game Fishing like Jigging, Plugging, etc
As this code name “XD” this new Twin Power is designed to have extra toughness for all game fishing such as plugging, jigging, seabass game, etc.
One big extended feature is the Hagane Gear. But those gear for Twin Power XD is stronger than the 2015 model, which is matched to one size bigger model of 2015 verson – SHIMANO says.
Also this new model has X-Proptect water resistant feature. But yes, ’15 model also has X-Protect – but according to SHIMANO HP this X-Protect is new and designed especially to this XD model. This new feature is thought to make extra smoothness of reeling by untouched model and labyrinth structure.

Spec and Release Date
This spinning reel only has HG – high speed gear and XG – extra high speed gear in the model and sits in between Twin Power and Twin Power SW, that will be useful for middle size fish games – such as Trevally, Seabass, Tailor, Bream, Snapper, Small King Fish etc.
Release date for C3000HG, C3000XG and 4000XG is March 2017, and C5000XG will be out at April 2017.
This reel will be showed at Fishing Show 2017 as well.

Are the twin power xd c5000xg can use same at sea saltwater fishing reel?
Hi Atong, yes sure you can use TW XD for saltwater as this is designed especially for heavy duty use such as rockwall, offshore or shore wading.

Hi. Yes I have before, when I was back to Japan. And this is my personal opinion however if you compare by smoothness, Vanquish is the one.That’s specified especially for lightness and smoothness, which you can feel the second best in Shimano reel (of course no.1 is new STELLA 18).
This reel is more for tough condition, which you can feel the strength and keeping smoothness even in tougher condition / use such as jigging.
I have used my stella 8000sw and 14000sw with the 8’3″ Ocea plugger flex limited heavy rod over the last couple seasons. I loved the combo so much I decided to get a lighter setup for this season. I just pulled the trigger and bought the twin power 5000XD and planning to pair it with my 8ft ocea plugger flex limited medium rod for inshore fishing… I will mostly use light popper/lures, and live bait. Your feedback?
Hi. One of our staff is using Twin Power XD 4000 XG with Shimano Coltsniper S1000MH for shore jigging and he loves those 🙂
With Twin Power XD the start of dragging is very smooth and therefore even if you get bigger fish than expected the line break can be hardly happens. In fact, he caught 89cm kingfish by this combos.
C5000XG is the one that Pro Angler Kenzaburo Fukui used for his GT fishing. I added the movie on the post so check it out 🙂
I have a Zenaq Defi 96hh 365 gm, which TW size should I pair up for good balance 4000 5000 6000? I am casting 50-160 gm lures (60-90m)and braid 30-50 lbs. Just need one to cover the range. Thank you.
Hi Melvin, For Zenaq Defi Muthos 96HH I would use at least Twin Power SW 6000, or even 8000, depending on your line capacity requirement. TW XD C5000 / 20 TW C5000 would be a bit too light against the rod weight 365g, especially with 9’6″ length.
