SHIMANO Exsence Coo

New Product: SHIMANO Exsence Coo 70F/100F XAR-C for Shallow Area Attack

SHIMANO’s new seabass lure Exsence Coo 70F/100F XAR-C is designed just to dive 10cm deep under surface, especially for shallow area such as canals, river mouse, etc.

I’ll introduce you the movie of how-to and about this new lure.

Super Shallow Lure Exsence Coo, The Functions

As you know there are heaps of type of lures designed for seabass. But SHIMANO actually thought “there’s still one area that is not really captured enough. Not surface, not 1m deep but the area just 10cm under the surface.”

Especially to target seabass often you want to have alternative to reel the lure slowly. This lure uses X AR-C system, which gives the lure both of long range casting and strong buoyancy to achieve the slow-reeling but just under the surface, not really on surface or too deep.

When you check the bait fish on your fishing point, where do you really watch? Of course you cannot see too deep. Even I see quite sometimes bait fish are just under the surface, and if it is the case there are such kind of bait fish there but fish eaters are not boiling, but you can sense it’s the good condition… That’s the case this Exsence Coo is the best matched.

Also, as it just dives 10-20 cm deep, you can even use it for super shallow area like 50cm-1m deep without worrying snagged. Have you had such case there are some rocks where fish can be, and the gap in between the bottom and on the rocks it look the best position, but the rocks area is just too shallow to use light diver, but they don’t attack to your surface lures? I actually do, and this is it.

X AR-C System

Do you know AR-C, the SHIMANO’s casting system? That is the system to move center of gravity on casting and reeling, that makes longer distance of casting and the balanced swimming form. Plus AR-C shell, which gives lure high buoyancy, achieves slow-reeling on super shallow area, so that AR-C system can have heavier weights to make longer casting.

How To Use Exsence Coo & Recommended Tacles

Here is the how-to movie from SHIMANO TV, from Jinsei Shimada.

Although it’s all in Japanese at least you can see the lure action of reeling, and how shallow where he is. In this movie he says the basic of use is just the slow-normal speed reeling and it has nice rolling action. If you want to make some action do not too hard. Soft action can make nice twitching enough.

The recommended tackles: sensitive rods like New Lunamis are better for this lure, because this lure does not have lips, so it’s hard to feel how it acts under the water. Reels are also better to be sensitive, such as Vanquish, the light and smooth reels to feel it. For line the braid (PE line called in Japanese) line and thinner is better as well.

Although this lure is designed for seabass, this fishing method is actually effective to other species, such as Trevally, Taylor etc. I saw there are some cases they don’t bite on top, but chases just under the water.
