Great news has come at this mid year 2021 – SHIMANO Online Fishing Show Autumn / Winter 2021!
Plenty of products have been announced and anglers in Japan are very excited – let’s check those new reels together.
21 Sephia XR
SHIMANO’s eging – squid lure fishing – brand Sephia’s high end spinning reel has been renewed – this Sephia XR is renewal version of past 17 Sephia Ci4+.
Magnumlight Rotor is now the same one of 19 Vanquish, the new shaped light rotor.
Super silky Micromodule Gear II + HAGANE Gear, and Silent Drive, which even enhances the smoothness of spin, are also featured and they look like feeling of spinning can be highly gained.
Coreprotect is now upgraded to X-Protect that has higher water resistance, and spool is reshape to Long Stroke Spool.
Of course, body and rotor materials are Ci4+ light and strong carbon material, and comparing to previous mode, C3000S is 10g lighter.
Release date is still unknown due to coronavirus pandemic, and price is 35,500 – 38,500yen.
21 Soare XR
Soare is SHIMANO’s brand for light game fishing and this Soare now has high-end reel, renewal model of 17 Soare Ci4+.
This reel looks very similar to 21 Sephia XR, new Magnumlight Rotor, Micromodule Gear II, Silent Drive, X-Protect, Ci4+ body and rotor, and Long Stroke Spool are featured.
One difference is the drag system – called High Response Drag, which is described from the official – high response special drag that can respond to swimming speed of hooked fish.
Size line-ups are only 2 size, C2000 – which is #1000 size body + 2000 spool, and C2500 – #2000 body + 2500 spool.
Release date is still unknown due to coronavirus pandemic, and price is 34,200 – 34,700yen.
21 Nasci
This can be a big news to wide range of anglers – Nasci has also been renewed in this year from 17 Nasci, in the same year of Ultegra.
Feature-wise, they are actually quite similar but one big change is this – Silent Drive, so spin feeling can be much better.
The new one also looks really different, the color is more with gun metalic with metalic silver, despite the previous 17 is gold / black, which I quite like it personally.
Overall design looks very similar to 21 Ultegra but with different coloring.

Release date is still unknown due to coronavirus pandemic, and price is 10,400 – 14,000yen, almost of all models are the same price but only C5000XG is 500yen expensive than 17 Nasci.
21 Nexave
Entry model spinning reel from SHIMANO has also been renewed.
Beginner friendly spinning reel with spooled line now has G-Free Body and personally, this is a big difference from just “cheap reel”, that shifts its weight point up closer to reel foot, so you will feel lighter than actual reel weight.
Lineup is a little smaller than previous model, from #1000 – C5000 despite the preivous 18 Nexave had from #500 – #8000 ( could be added in future).
Price is just written as “Valued Price” but could be around 6,000 – 7,000 yen.

21 Spheros SW
This could be a huge update as well for salt water anglers – Spheros SW has also been renewed from 14 Spheros SW.
The design looks the same as smaller 19 Spheros SW, so this 21 Spheros SW could be the added models – and renewed from 14 Spheros SW but as of SHIMANO’s bigger reels, it looks very close to 20 Stradic SW – with HAGANE Gear, HAGANE Body ( means the body foot part is made by Aluminium), Infinity Drive – creates strong power and smooth reeling, which is a big supprise -, X-Shield and X-Protect.
Drag is also Carbon-Cross Washer, then what could be the difference with Stradic SW!?
Well I just assume each parts quality should be different though, this is even cheaper than oversea model Saragosa SWA (Saragosa SWA has wider range to #2000).
New 21 Spheros SW has middle saltwater size from #5000 – #8000 and price is 16,800 – 18,600yen.

21 BB-X Technium
ISO Fishing high end reel BB-X Technium is now renewed from 15 BB-X Technium.
BB-X Technium ISO rock fishing reel has lever brake, which releases line smoothly when hooked fish is running onto rocks, to control fish’s running direction.
BB-X Technium’s lever brake is very unique, with SUT Brake system, which reverses spool indipendently, so the handle won’t move. New 21 BB-X Technium has new SUT Brake II, which releases line smoother than previous.
Like high-end reel it has plenty of features as well – HAGANE body material + Ci4+ new Magnumlight Rotor, X-Ship, HAGANE Gear, One Piece Bail and Barrier Finish coating.
Price is 96,000 yen, and release date is set to this September.
