Once again, we’re introducing SHIMANO’s new rods set to release in the latter half of 2024.
There’s still plenty of exciting fishing rods to look out for, especially multi-piece pack rods, offshore rods for fresh bait fishing, and rods for rock “ISO” fishing!
Let’s dive in and take a closer look.
World Shaula Technical Edition
This popular model, frequently mentioned on our site, is getting a new addition with a focus on handling lightweight lures.
The design emphasizes sensitivity and lightness, with the front grip now made of carbon. The increased carbon content in the monocoque grip further enhances sensitivity.
While designed to effortlessly cast light lures, the strong yet flexible blanks can handle unexpected big fish.
The lineup even includes ultra-light models, ranging from UL-L to XUL.
It’s scheduled for release in November 2024.
UNFIX
A rod that has personally caught my attention—UNFIX.
Shimano is releasing this mobile game fishing rod in 4-piece or 5-piece configurations, making it highly portable.
It’s a rod designed for anglers who want to enjoy fishing in short bursts during their busy schedules—whether before work, after work, or even during breaks.
Despite having a closed length of just 43.5cm to 56.4cm, the longest model extends up to 8’6” (2.59m).
With Spiral X and Ci4+ carbon sheets, this rod is built for serious fishing performance.

Excite Game XR
This rod is designed for boat fishing with electric reels or overhead reels.
Like the Game Type-J Full Bend mentioned earlier, it’s also a full-solid rod.
The Hi-Power X Full Solid construction combines the flexibility and strength of solid blanks, and the carbon monocoque grip enhances sensitivity.
The rod’s theme revolves around bending deeply for an exciting fishing experience.

Saber Master XTune Tenya
A rod designed for Japan’s popular boat squid fishing method, Tip Eging.
A rod designed specifically for enjoying Hairtail fishing from a boat, which has been growing in popularity among anglers in Japan.
It’s tuned for use with Tenya rigs, a traditional Japanese bait fishing technique.
The rod features blanks made from Spiral X Core and Hi-Power X, an X-guide to reduce line troubles, a carbon monocoque grip to boost sensitivity, and an X-seat technical grip for a stable hold.
It seems versatile enough for not only Hairtail but also Snapper, Sea Bream, and Cod.

Stephano Limited M175
This rod is also designed for bait fishing from a boat, but it’s specifically made for Kawahagi (Filefish) fishing.
Overseas, it might not be a popular target, but in Japan, it’s a secretly popular, highly technical fish to catch, growing up to 30cm in size with a small mouth that makes it easy to lose bait.
For accurately detecting even the slightest bite, the Hi-Power X solid structure and Taftec Infinity’s highly sensitive solid tip will likely perform well.

Chermare Otoshikomi
This rod is designed for Otoshikomi fishing, where you catch bait fish with a Sabiki rig and use them immediately to catch larger fish.
It’s a method that allows you to acquire bait and catch your target fish simultaneously.
The rod’s solid core, called Muscle Core, is integrated into the butt section, giving it the strength to handle large fish.
The ferrule section, where the rod connects, uses a Tough Butt Ferrule with materials penetrating the reel seat, ensuring a solid lock and a nut mechanism that makes tightening easy and prevents loosening.
The rod end has a bottom designed to fit comfortably against your body when fighting big fish, allowing you to use your body during the battle.
This rod is also suitable for live bait fishing. If you’re targeting fish weighing 10kg to 20kg, this rod might be worth considering.
Now available.
Realancer Otoshikomi
This is another rod for Otoshikomi fishing but at a more affordable price.
It’s lightweight, strong, and portable, thanks to its two-piece center-cut design, making it a versatile, cost-effective rod.

Bandit Aomono
“Aomono” refers to Blue runners, which include Kingfish, Amberjack, Mackerel, and Tuna—powerful sprinters of the ocean.
This rod is built for catching such large, strong fish.
It features a strong butt section with Spiral X Core and Hi-Power X, while the soft tip improves hook setting. Unlike previous rods, this one is specifically designed for targeting Aomono with bait or live bait.
Now available.
Fire Blood Gure
“Gure” is the Japanese name for fish commonly known as Greenfish or Blackfish, often caught through rock shore bait fishing.
The Fire Blood rod is designed for catching Gure from rock shores.
The lineup includes models with varying bend curves, each with unique characteristics.
Featuring lightweight yet strong blanks made from Muscle Carbon and Spiral X Core, and two types of end grips selected to match the model’s features.
The tip guide is the X-Guide 3D Titanium Top, transitioning to X-Guide 3D-Ci4+, and further down, Fuji T-IMSG guides are used.
These features make it lightweight, strong, and resistant to line troubles, transmitting the fish’s weight to the blanks without any issues. If you want to fully enjoy ISO fishing, this is a rod you’ll want to try.
It’s scheduled for release in October 2024.
Bull’s Eye Limited
This rod is built for catching large fish from ISO (rock shores).
It’s specifically designed for “Kago Fishing,” where you cast bait from a bait cage, scattering it to attract fish, and hide the hook bait in it.
The blanks are powerful enough to cast heavy, long rigs over great distances, the guide settings help avoid casting troubles, and the grip is designed with big fish fights in mind.
If you’re an angler targeting big fish from ISO, this is an exciting model to look forward to.

Sea Mark Bait Saguri
This rod is a bit different—it’s designed for fishing in saltwater fishing ponds.
In Japan, saltwater fishing ponds are man-made enclosures in the ocean where fish are stocked, and anglers pay to catch them.
This rod is built specifically for this type of fishing.
The Bait Saguri fishing method uses an IC counter reel to measure and explore the depth where fish are biting, fishing vertically.
It may be hard to find a use for this rod overseas, but if you ever visit Japan, fishing in a saltwater pond might be fun. It’s also an activity the whole family can enjoy.
