Do you have SHIMANO fishing rods? Or DAIWA? Yes, those are 2 big names from Japanese fishing industry.
But today I introduce you, is the long historical rod builder from Japan – Tenryu, who creates and builds made in Japan rods for years and years, and also receive OEM orders from other companies.
Now this original seabass spinning rod SWAT is renewed and will be revealed at Fishing Festival 2020!
“Bend and Catch” – characterized spinning rod has gone further
Basically, Tenryu is really famous for original rod builder of made-in-Japan and many core anglers love and use their rods for years. Actually, lots of Japanese brands sell plenty of fishing rods but only some of they builds blanks. Others order OEM to those blanks builders. And Tenryu is one of the made-in-Japan blank builders.
Tenryu has its own concept and basically says, they don’t make usual rods like others provides, but original, and unique spinning rods. And those characters are, they bend really well with beautiful curves.
When cast, hit, bite, fight, and catch… this bending makes them really comfortable and easier to do those actions. But the rod characters are so different from other brands… That’s why lots of people say, their rods are for “core” anglers.
This new SWAT is characterized in the same concept as well, “bends and catch” is one of the theme to build this spinning rod.
But “bend well” doesn’t even mean its blanks are weaker. It means, rods bend well to absorb impacts from the fish when fighting, but blanks has good enough power to float fish onto the surface sooner. Even at casting, that bending blanks can make faster tip speed, that also makes longer casting.
The technology making well-bend blanks – Carbon Nano Tube
When carbon is used to rod blanks, of course, it is bonded by resin.
Carbon Nano Tube – C. N. T., the Tenryu’s new rod blank technology, is the nano size carbon cluster, and those cluster is contained in the resin bonding each carbon fibres. So resin parts can even have carbon type characters, that gives fishing rods stronger bonds of each carbon fibres, and flexibility with strength.

SiC-S ring with titanium K Guide with Nishijin brocade carbon fibre grip
This new SWAT features SiC-S ring with titanium K Guide system.
SiC-S ring is built by Fuji Guide at 2016, which is the new SiC ring that can be thinner and lighter guide ring material from previous SiC ring (SiC-J).
Titanium flame is, as Fuji says, strong + light + anti rust metal material. And of course, K-Guide system flame, that has auto line release system at casting, decreasing line trouble, especially with thinner braided lines.
The hand grip has Nishijin brocade type carbon fibre material. As Tenryu says, this Nishijin pattern gives extra strength but lightness of these rods.
