Offshore Overhead Reel with Counter – SHIMANO OCEA Conquest CT

SHIMANO announced new overhead reel model of OCEA Conquest – the CT with counter.

Basic features are the same as normal OCEA Conquest but now you can see more information with the digital counter, to reach your dream fish much closer.

2 Big Features of OCEA Conquest CT

Depth and Speed Counter

As you see on this image, you can see how long your line is out from the reel by the digital counter.
This is very useful for offshore fishing, as sometimes you’ll see fish gathering in middle of water, which means you won’t reach fish if you just drop your rig down to the bottom or just under the water. When you see fish crowd under the water by fish finder, you’ll just match up the depth by this counter and see fish will bite.

Also, this digital counter has another meter on the left side (see the red bordered box). This tells you the level of fall / retrieve speed and this is especially for TaiRaba (snapper rubber) and slow jigging fishing. At TaiRaba, the reeling and fall speed are very important factor to get fish biting, and by watching this counter you can control and know exactly when / how they bite, or why they don’t bite yet.
For slow jigging, the jig fall speed is also very important as they often bite when jig is falling in this method.

Fall Lever that you can control fall speed

This is like a break of spool so you can adjust falling speed of your rig.

You just need to pull up / down the lever to adjust, so it makes very easy to adjust fall speed, instantly.
And with the combination of counter and this lever, you’ll get the best speed day by day, time by time really easily.

Other SHIMANO Technology used on OCEA Conquest CT

  • Micromodule Gear
  • X-Ship
  • HAGANE Body
  • S Compact Body
  • Exciting Drag Sound
  • S A-RB
  • LED Back Light (on counter)

The features NOT INCLUDED from OCEA Conquest are SVS (SHIMANO Variable Brake System), E.I. (Super Anti-Rust Treatment), and Super Free Spool.

As this is not the casting model, but especially for vertical fishing, SVS is not needed and Fall Lever can be the function instead of this. This can be a bit regrettable this does not have E.I. though.
Super Free Spool system, the SHIMANO’s feature for bait casting / overhead reel especially for casting but with the same reason of SVS, this is not a big deel.

  1. Dear sir or madam.
I’m shawn from USA ( California). I wish I can call you and answer some of the deep sea fishing rod for jigging is suitable for me plus the conquest ocea ct 300. ( what is the difference from HG and PG ? )

Could I Oder from you? Or how ?

    1. Hi Shawn, we are so sorry but we do not contact via phone as we are not a seller, we just introduce Japanese products and possible way to purchase them online to help your fishing lives. Therefore we can’t take your order as well.
To purchase things from Japan please refer to our pages:

The difference of HG and PG is the gear ratio, HG has bigger ratio that gives you faster reeling speed, but less reeling power than PG. PG is the opposite, less speed but more power. For 200HG / 200PG, when the handle rotates once HG winds up 78cm against PG does 60cm. The difference is 18cm in one rotates, so when you rotate the handle 20 times HG winds up 3.6m faster than PG. But if you just use this for slow jigging, tairaba, bait fishing that doesn’t require faster reeling speed, PG can be better as it has bigger power and therefore you may feel easier to wind up.

    1. Hi willy, I can’t really explain why unless checking your reel but commonly this is learning error. When you pull 10m after selecting P1 mode, you have to pull 10m accurately otherwise this Er.2 happens. And the counter number is not telling you a meter but it tells you how many times the spool spins. You’ll need to check 10m with line color, or depth checker.
      Hope it helps.
