The core feature of SHIMANO bait casting reel, DC Break System. It’s been on the previous model Antares DC ’06. Second Antares actually did not have it and had SVS break system instead, but now – DC break with Antares is back, New Antares DC ’16.
The concept of this reel is one thing, the longest casting distance. And this New Antares DC ’16 also made over 100m cast on test, a lot as SHIMANO says.
The Main Feature: NEW 4×8 DC Break System
DC – Digital Control Break system is the electrical control breaking system which detects and breaks only “when it needs”. This new DC break system controls breaking / non-breaking in 1/1000 seconds automatically, so that the breaking time can be the least and it will make the casting range much longer.
This break system has 4 x mode dials which are: FL – Fluorocarbon, P: PE (braid line), NM (Nyron / monofilament line) and X: extreme long cast, which controls of the strength of the breaking.
New Magnumlite Spool, The Light and Strong – The Best Casting Spool
The lightening can also be an effective way of longer casting, and this New Magnumlite Spool is the one that made casting distance 20% up by side-blanking.
With this spool and new 4×8 DC break system, the pro angler Hajime Murata made 109.37m on the test!
Micro Module Gear
One of the main SHIMANO’s feature MMG – Micro Module Gear, the smaller and more braids on the drive gear and pinion gear. This feature is also installed into the New Antares DC ’16.
This module gives you smoother feeling and makes gears stronger.
Just one thing, as the braids are smaller than the normal gears I feel it can be a bit weaker for sands and dusts, do not forget to keep clean and overhaul.
Spec and Release Date
This New Antares DC ’16 has 2 models with the left / right handle, normal and HG (fast gear).
And those model’s weight is 220g, against the Antares ’12 is 225g.
The announced release date is April 2016 for Right Handle, which is already on sale, and the left handy is on June 2016.
