This is the mid year new fishing products season as we have already introduced you DAIWA 23 LEGALIS, SHIMANO has also revealed some renewal of products.
And we assumed this is one of the biggest news – SHIMANO 23 STRADIC has come back renewed with lots of features from 22 STELLA!
Let’s check all specs together.
Incredibly Featured Technologies from STELLA
As you already know, SHIMANO 22 STELLA has been updated last year with lots of features, which characterized new STELLA as whole new, different reel from 18 STELLA surprisingly.
And now a lot of features are down to this hew 23 STRADIC, which is one of most sold spinning reel from SHIMANO in the world.
Infinity Drive
Infinity Drive is one of the most loved and welcomed feature started from 19 / 20 STELLA SW.
Initially installed to SW – heavy duty saltwater spinning reels, and started to be featured to light spinning from 22 STELLA and now 23 STRADIC has been featured!
Main shaft is now contact-less to pinion gear to reduce fliction, held both side of top and bottom by special less-fliction bushes, so that the fliction is minimized and the input power from handle can directly goes to all gears, which can gain reeling power and sensitivity drastically.
I still remember how much I was surprised when I tried 20 STRADIC SW, the reeling power is greatly increased and even 1.5m sharks were pulled up no trouble by smaller #6000 body.
We are really excited that now 23 STRADIC has this!
Infinity Xross
This is one of the important features started from 22 STELLA, that the gear tooth now has wider width, which can spread gear-to-gear pressure and gain its durability – approx. 2 times from previous model, as SHIMANO Official says.
That is really great and welcoming features, as we can have the initial great feeling longer.
The gear is also Micromodule Gear II, which makes gear smooth with no stress of reeling.
Anti-Twist Fin
We actually thought this was paired feature with Infinity Loop, which is super-slow oscillating system but actually not!
This is rubber-like fin placed under the line roller, which can lead the line smoothly to line roller when you start reeling, and it can keep the line tension well, even in such scene the line can be super loose, like right after the casting, after wide jerking, working on soft plastic slowly, midstrolling, etc so that the line trouble can be minimized.
You might be able to see at our Youtube video – 22 STELLA review, the line was not loose at all times, even after casting really light lures. It was a bit windy day, but I felt this fin kept good enough tension from spool to the line roller when winding lines.
This 23 STRADIC does not have Infinity Loop, but this Anti-Twist Fin can reduce line trouble even less for sure.
Duracross
This is for the fablic drag washer material.
Material structure used to have just vertical and horizontal like “2D” previously, but this new material now has orthogonal pattern like “3D”, which gains drag washer durability more than 10 times – from SHIMANO’s test.
Other Features
All other features look the same as previous 19 STRADIC as below:
- HAGANE Gear
- HAGANE Body (AL + plastic cover – does not say Ci4+)
- X-Ship
- Silent Drive
- X-Protect
- G-Free Body
- AR-C Spool
- Long Stroke Spool
- S A-RB
- One Piece Bail
Like above, this looks like “22 STELLA without Infinity Loop” – of course its quality won’t be exactly the same as STELLA as price range is too different, but if you are not a big fan of slow oscillating, and / or looking for affordable spinning reels, this 23 STRADIC can be your best choice.
Specs and Release Date
23 STRADIC has C2000 – C5000 body models with multiple gear ratios, so it does not have #1000 for now.
And anfortunately.. Release date is unknown, not officially announced yet.
We are hoping to hear out when this exciting new reel comes out!
