The mid-year new products announcement starts from SHIMANO and DAIWA these days, and now one another exciting news is out – “light and affordable” fully renewed DAIWA 24 LUVIAS is coming soon!
Let’s explore further how it will be together.
AIRDRIVE DESIGN x ZAION
The quite major DAIWA’s new spinning reel design concept AIRDRIVE DESIGN is of course featured to this new 24 LUVIAS, with DAIWA’s original carbon material ZAION.
To be honest, this new 24 LUVIAS is simply upgraded from 20 LUVIAS with this AIRDRIVE DESIGN. The model concept is the same, using ZAION Monocoque body + ZAION AIRDRIVE rotor, which can be the same as other upper class spinning reels.
And the gear is actually upgraded to super-ultra duralumin Machine-Cut Tough Digigear, which was the same material but normal Tough Digigear for the previous 20 LUVIAS.
Therefore basically, this 24 LUVIAS is like ZAION version AIRITY which is more affordable but the function is pretty close.
ATD-L / ATD Tough Drag System
As well as the recent items, this 24 LUVIAS also has new ATD-L drag system.
This is really smooth and useful drag system that releases the line when you need, and stop when you want.
Interestingly the new size of 24 LUVIAS – 5000-CXH has different drag system, called ATD Tough, which DAIWA official says tougher drag system with carbon drag washers.
More For Mid-Range Versatilability
This 24 LUVIAS seems like designed more for middle-range versatile use to me as smaller models and bigger models have slightly different features.
The main shaft material is also different, smaller size from LT2000S-P to LT3000-H has light aluminium shaft, but PC 3000 and bigger has more durable SUS stainless main shaft.
Also PC LT2500-H / LT3000-H / PC LT3000-XH / LT4000-XH / LT5000D-CXH have special coated drive gear.
Therefore the smaller models are the same weight to 23 AIRITY, but bigger sizes have slightly heavier. And lighter than previous 20 LUVIAS (eg: LT3000-H 20LUVIAS: 205g, 24LUVIAS: 175g).
This means, if you wish to have multiple sizes of spinning reels, but combination of EXIST / AIRITY / Certate are a bit too dear… Then maybe, you can think to have different sizes of 24 LUVIAS.

As of these above, the new 24 LUVIAS looks like affordable version of 23 AIRITY.
Now we are really interested in how much differences in between 24 LUVIAS and 23 AIRITY – like is that really a little like in between 22 EXIST and 23 AIRITY? Or much more?
Specs and Release Date
Agaist 20 LUVIAS had FC – finesse custom models this 24 LUVIAS first announcement does not have those models, but instead, lighter models have been added – LT-2000S-P/H, LT25OOS/S-XH, and PC models are also added too.
And the bigger model LT5000D-CXH is also added as well.
Releasing date is set as this August, 2024 which is pretty soon!
