And at the beginning of the year, here it comes… Japan Fishing Show 2019 in Yokohama!
Here we introduce you what is on the event, and how to get there.
The Biggest Fishing Show in Japan
As you may know already, this fishing show is the biggest one in Japan through a year.
It is held through 3 days, and almost of all fishing brands are gathered and have exhibition booth in the hall of Pacifico Yokohama with lots of new coming products.
Yes, you can touch and feel of their new products, sooner than anyone else!
SHIMANO, DAIWA, yes of course they are there with plenty of new products. Gamakatsu, Jackall, Valleyhill, Smith, Ima… of course!

What is on the event
Actual contents of the event is not announced yet, but if you remind back the past events, here are some of those contents.
- Fishing booth with new products which will be on sale at the year
- Talk show about products, techniques, etc.
- Shows to explain how to use lures / how lures work ( as you can see the fish tank on the map)
- Pool fishing trial
- Event only items on sale
- Angler’s Idol Final Competition
To be honest, there are heaps of new products that you may not want to miss, so even though those talk show is in Japanese, that’ll be a good experience to be there and will be more than enough to spend a day at least.

How to Get There
As of the event name Japan Fishing Show 2019 Yokohama is held in Yokohama City, which is in the Kanagawa prefecture right next to Tokyo.
It is in the city of Yokohama-shi however it will take 20 – 30 min to walk from JR Yokohama Station.
If you don’t mind of walking that’s good, however, if you do, Minatomirai Station of Minatomirai Line is the nearest station.

Sightseeing Spots around Minatomirai
If you come to Japan for Fishing Show, many of the people would not only go to the show and go out from Japan straight away… And the Minatomirai has lots of interesting sightseeing spots around.
Yamashita Park
First spot is the seaside park at Yokohama.
This Yamashita Park has nice views with some of big ships coming in / out, with seasonable flowers and greens.
And of course, you can fish from this park.
Cast fishing like surf casting / lure casting are actually prohibited, and you have to be carefully to lots of people, but you can just drop the rig like down-shot rigs, Sabiki, etc and target some fish like some rockfish, whiting, flathead, flounder, etc.

Yokohama Cosmo World
Yokohama Cosmo World is the big theme park at Minatomirai.
You can enjoy lots of rides, of course with your kids.
Vanish is the roller coaster that can go into the water (but you don’t get wet much)! It is very exciting ride.
Cosmo Clock 21 is the big ferris wheel inside of the park. 113m height and 15 mins to round, especially the night view is perfectly beautiful.

Minatomirai Pukari Pier
Pukari Pier is the pier terminal of ocean bus “Seabass” and pleasure cruises.
Even if you don’t take those ship to go around, the beautiful seaside is a must-see spot.
This is spotted in front of Pacifico Yokohama, the venue of Japan Fishing Show.
Seabass Cruising
This of course, doesn’t mean the Seabass fish – but long boat going around Yokohama Bays.
Seabass goes around Yokohama Station – Minatomirai 21 – Red Brick Warehouse – Yamashita Park.
Of course you can enjoy day cruise, however the night cruise is more recommended as you can see beautiful illumination from the sea.
Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse
Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is a historical buiding which was built in 1911 and 1913.
This warehouse was abandoned from 1989 until 2002, and now it is reshaped to a theme park called “Red Brick Park”.
At the winter time ice skate rink is set and you can enjoy ice skating.
Osanbashi Yokohama
Yokohama Osanbashi is the big pier for cruise ship terminal.
You can go up to the pier called “Back of a whale” and see nice view of Minatomirai.
There are some recommended photo spots marked by camera icons on the floor, so you won’t miss the best shot!
Mark Is Minatomirai
This is a big shopping mall at Minatomirai, from basement 4 to 6th floor.
This building has plenty of shop booth inside of clothes, cosmetics, general goods and café, restaurants, etc.
Orbi Yokohama is “Indoor Wildlife Encounter” museum. You can meet lots of animals and you can even touch some.

Hara Model Railway Museum
Hara Model Railway Museum is the railway museum which has plenty of railway models that you can have a look. From old to new, you can see anything about Japanese railways.
This museums is located at Shin-Takashimacho Station of Minatomirai Line.
Yokohama Marine Tower
Yokohama Marine Tower is located near to Red Brick Warehouse and Osanbashi, which used to be used as a “highest” lighthouse, and now reshaped to an event place.
There are some lookout deck at 29th, 30th floor from about 100m high. And at lower floors, there are some shops and restaurants. You can also have wedding ceremony and receptions at the 3rd floor.
Yokohama China Town
As lots of city in lots of country have it, Yokohama has China Town as well.
This is as you may know the gourmet town you can enjoy Chinese foods.
You can even enjoy some small takeaways like dumpling, bans and also enjoy particular dishes in restaurants.
Japan Fishing Show 2019 Osaka
Is it hard to come in Japan in January?
If so, but if you can make it early February, Japan Fishing Show 2019 Osaka is the one for you.
Basically the booths are pretty similar or the same to Yokohama but some can be different.
That’s held on 1st / 2nd / 3rd February 2019 at Intex Osaka.
