Not only from SHIMANO and DAIWA, but Ja-Do also has new products announced at Japan Fishing Show 2019.
This is it, new metal jig “Ja-Do Rezan” here.
Swimming Metal Jig like Jig Minnow
I am really interested in this jig actually, because in Australia Seabass are not around, and fisheater species are very unlike it, such as Trevally, Tailor, Kingfish, Cobia, etc. The lure actions are a bit different from seabass, as they are not sit in the same place but moving around, and they are active to attack the lure, which is not happened quite often for seabass.
Lots of seabass lures from Japan work very well in Australia too, but the method of how-to-make action can be varied and different from seabass fishing. So, some of the lures that fascinates seabass just by same-speed reeling, I feel that does not really work well in Australia sometimes, for that reason.
So, instead of using hard body lures we often encounter the situation, soft plastic or metal jig can only work. Jig minnow can also work sometimes, but that’s not really moving like jig, so when jig action works well jig minnows were not the one.
This Ja-Do Rezan, is developed based on seabass jig, but the big difference is that you can either use as a jig or swim bait. This can move like minnow when you retrieve, but you can also make action like jigs by jerking. Vertical jerk, horizontal jerk, to me this can work on both directions.
So in the situation when fish doesn’t bite well to your hard body lures, like prawn / shrimp patterns, this can take lots of actions by one so you could have a chance to get bites.
Here is the video from fimoTV, Ja-Do staff Takuya Shin explains Rezan.
One more situation I am excited with this is the surf game fishing. Japanese beach often gets deeper in short distance, so if the timing is right you don’t really need to get into the water but can expect big fish eaters by casting 50m or so. By shore jigging you can target wider area, but there are still some situations, like they bite lures but not for jig, but too far to use lures. The bait is too small for jig minnow.
And if you use Rezan, you can expect longer distance and wider area to seek, by minnow-like action.
If in the shrimp / prawn pattern? No worries, you just use this jig like slow jigging, that’s all!
The Ja-Do staff calls this as “Metal Swimming Minnow”.
Anti Line Tangling
As of Mr. Shin says on the movie, this jig Rezan is designed to prevent line tangling. As of his word, when you use metal jig for top water boiling, you may need to reel fast to keep the top water level, with lots of splashes, that appeals to fish. But when you do that, the rear treble hook can tangles to the line and therefore fish won’t be able to bite.
“When you find as fast as you want and you can, no worries, it’s not tangled to the line, even when you use as normal jigs, so you can use this with much less stress.” by Mr. Shin.
