DAIWA Ballistic – have you heard about this name? Yes, the same name reel is already out from DAIWA US.
But this Japanese model DAIWA Ballistic FW ‘19 is totally different – this is the “Little EXIST ’18 for Fresh Water”.
“Light and Tough” Zaion Body and Rotor
As of the name FW – this Ballistic FW’19 is made only for Fresh Water fishing such as bass, trout, etc. Therefore this does not have Magsealed, which is DAIWA’s original technology of water resistance.
But the body and rotor are made from Zaion – the DAIWA’s original carbon material – tough and strong as Magnesium, but much lighter resin, like EXIST ’18, but much cheaper.
Comparing to EXIST ’18, even though they have no such common models, EXIST’18 LT2500 weight is 180g, and this Ballistic FW’19 LT2500S-C is 165g.
Machine cut Tough Digigear is used for the main gear as well, so yes, this can be your choice for fresh water fishing.
Spec and Release Date
As of the concept of Ballistic FW’19 this only has 2 types of body size – LT1000, LT2000 (LT2500-C).
Release date was February 2019, and I am getting lots of positive reviews already!
