As the new year is nearly there, fishing brands / companies are starting to reveal their new coming products in 2021, and so is one of the biggest Japanese fishing brand DAIWA.
First one we announce you is the refreshed tough baitcaster reel ZILLION SV TW, with gained toughness and strength!
DAIWA’s new Concept – HyperDrive Design
DAIWA reveals some new baitcaster reels coming soon but all they have is this new concept – HyperDrive Design.
This concept includes 4 new functions as below.
Hyper Armed Housing
Personally, this is the biggest update for new 21 ZILLION SV TW.
Hyper Armed Housing is a full metal housing by Aluminium, which can then enhance reel’s toughness and durability more.
ZILLION is the name of “toughness” baitcaster reel but the previous model only had metal frame for main frame, but this new 21 ZILLION has metal side plate and metal set plate too.
I am very happy to hear this update, especially for saltwater fishing.
HyperDrive Digigear
Digigear is one of the biggest feature for DAIWA’s reels and this HyperDrive Digigear is whole renewed, so that smoothness and durability is enhanced more than ever – as DAIWA official says.
Hyper Double Support
This is the new support system for pinion gear.
2 ball bearings are supporting both side of pinion gear so reeling can be smoother but powerful.
Hyper Tough Crutch
Crutch system is one of function that you may need to ask repairs as you always need to on/off at each cast.
This new Hyper Tough Crutch is redesigned its structures throughout and so toughness and durability is highly enhanced – as DAIWA official says.
New φ34mm SV Spool – SV BOOST
SV Spool is DAIWA’s original feature for mechanism of spool and around spool.
From light rig to heavy lures SV Spool enhances its versatile ability.
New SV Spool is now back as SV BOOST, which has two steps of brake system.
Brakes only works weakly at the low rotation such as the end of casting, but it uses stronger setting at the start of full-cast.
At any cast, with any rigs, this reduces troubles much less.
Specs and Release Date
21 ZILLION SV TW only has 1 size – 1000 with mono 14lb(#3.5) 45-90m / 16lb(#4) 40-80m but with variety of gear ratios, 5.5 / 6.3 / 7.1 / 8.5.
Left hand models are released in this December 2020 and right hand models will be coming out on January 2021.
